Honey Garlic Steak Bites with Fried Rice

Sirloin Steak with Fried Rice

Ingredients

Sirloin Steak

  • 1-2 lbs sirloin steak

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • Corn starch

  • Soy sauce

  • Rice vinegar

  • Honey

  • Garlic, minced

  • Ketchup

Fried Rice

  • Leftover rice or cook 1 cup of jasmine rice

  • 2 eggs

  • Sesame oil

  • Soy sauce

  • Onion powder

Directions

Sirloin Steak

  1. Cube the sirloin steak into bite-sized pieces and season with salt and pepper.

  2. Sear the steak pieces in a hot pan until browned.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine corn starch, soy sauce, ketchup, honey, rice vinegar, and minced garlic to create the sauce.

  4. Remove the steak from the pan and pour the sauce into the same pan to deglaze, scraping any browned bits from the bottom. Allow the sauce to thicken.

  5. Once thickened, add the seared steak back into the pan and stir to coat. Optionally, garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions.

Fried Rice

  1. In a large frying pan, melt butter and add the cooked rice (or prepared jasmine rice).

  2. If desired, microwave a frozen mix of peas and carrots until heated through, then add to the pan.

  3. Once the rice is hot, create a hole in the center of the rice to scramble the two eggs. Add more oil to the pan if necessary for cooking the eggs.

  4. After the eggs are cooked, mix everything together and add sesame oil, onion powder, and soy sauce to taste.

  5. For extra vegetables, add frozen stir fry veggies to the plate as desired. In the same pan used for the steak, stir fry the veggies with soy sauce and cover for about 5 minutes until tender.

Adding frozen stir fry veggies is a great way to enhance your meal with additional flavor and nutrition. Using hoisin sauce can elevate the dish, providing a sweet and savory profile that complements the beef nicely.

In the same pan used for cooking the beef, sauté the frozen veggies, and adding hoisin sauce boosts their taste further. Covering the pan for 5 minutes allows the vegetables to steam, ensuring they cook evenly while retaining their crunch. This method not only makes for a quick and easy meal but also maximizes the use of your ingredients, reducing cleanup and enhancing flavor. Enjoy your stir fry!

This combination serves as a satisfying meal, perfect for utilizing leftover rice and creating a flavorful dish.
